Second Book Syndrome, by Tola Ositelu 9 (Review)
I am thinking of coining a new literary phrase, assuming one is necessary, to refer to those authors whose follow-up novels do not live up to the promise of their debuts; underwhelming-second-book-syndrome. Anticlimactic second novels are nothing new. I even have a friend who is generally wary of any follow-ups, preferring others to test the waters and see if personal recommendations are forthcoming. I have developed a healthy scepticism of second novels myself...
