FADE

Upon the resolution
The bright lights began to dim,
Like signposts of a gathering sunset.
And as the dreamer stirred
In the first retreat to reality
The dusky shades mounted.

Whereupon the one who was there
Could no longer be clearly seen
Nor heard, nor touched.

Echoes subside behind the stumbling hills
Searching eyes blink and flicker in the edging light
Fingers grasping and catching air...
Whereupon the one who was there before, in all,
Was there no more.
